Now , who on earth would not love the zesty lime /lemon pickle.Perfect combination with dal rice or curd rice.Oh, what not , my mouth is already watering.This pickle is any dining tables staple.I know many like to buy it directly from the market , but this homemade recipe will change your mind and I bet you will always try to make this pickle at home.And trust me it is easy and worth more than the wee bit patience.And the taste is even more sumptuous and content.Food got to give a mans heart content , content leads to happiness.Let me directly jump to what you would require to make this and how to do it.This is of course my moms authentic recipe.


1.Lemons -25+12
3.Turmeric-2 Tablespoon
4.Fenugreek Powder (dry roasted and powdered)-2 teaspoon
5.Chilli Powder -100 gm
6.Gingelly Oil - 250ml
7.Mustard seeds- 3 teaspoons
8.Asafoetida /Hing -1/2 teaspoon.

Procedure :
1.Cut each lemon into 4 halves (25 lemons)and  place them in a wide basin , preferably ceramic or plastic one.
 Now, add only the juice of the remaining 12 lemons.
2.To this add salt and turmeric ,mix well & cover it .
3.Leave it as such for two nights.
4.The third and fourth day , leave the mix in sunlight.
5.The fifth day is when you mix the remaining ingredients to make the final product.

6.FIFTH DAY procedure:

  • heat oil(250 ml ) and add 3 teaspoons of mustard seeds and let them splutter and immediately turn off the heat.
  • now after a couple of minutes add chilli powder and asafoetida.
  • let the oil with the contents cool down.
  • meanwhile add the fenugreek powder over the lemons.
  • pour the cooled oil mixture over the lemons and mix well.
  • Store in a glass or a porcelain jar.
  • Eat with plain hot rice & ghee , or a side dish with lachha paratha or curd rice.Any which way its just yumm.
